Mrs. Genevieve A. Williams, 95, of McKinley Road, Palatine Bridge, New York died early Monday morning, August 3, 2015.
Born on July 11, 1920 in Little Falls, NY, she was the daughter of John Dillon and Agnes Starin Dillon. She was a graduate of Fort Plain High School, Class of 1938 and was a lifetime area resident.
Mrs. Williams, along with her husband, Arthur, built, opened, and operated the William's Tastee-Freez in Palatine Bridge in the 1950's. They owned and operated the business together for over 25 years.
She was a communicant of the former St. James Catholic Church in Fort Plain, and was a current communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.
Mrs. Williams was a member of the Forest Preserves, and Mohawk Roamers. She enjoyed playing cards and was Holey Board Co-Champion.
On June 22, 1940 at the St. James Rectory in Fort Plain, Genevieve was married to Arthur H. Williams. He preceded her in death on November 4, 1999. In addition to her husband her brother, Edward Dillon and sisters, Mary Fuhs Putman, Margaret Boyle, Frances Hurley, Betty Younglove and granddaughter-in-law, Annette Dingman predeceased her.
Mrs. Williams is survived by her son, Robert A. Williams and Katherine of Palatine Bridge, NY; daughter, Donna Short of Palatine Bridge, NY; 4 grandchildren, Shawn Dingman, Tracy Paratore and Dan Nunez, Robert Williams, II and Jen Williams, Cody Short; 2 great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Jared Paratore.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, August 7, 2015 from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 pm at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. Burial will take place in Canajoharie Falls Cemetery.
