Obituary of John E. Fuhs

Mr. John E. "Jack" Fuhs, 87, of Main Street, Fort Plain, New York died Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Palatine Nursing Home.
Born on September 12, 1928 in Fort Plain, NY, he was the son of John Fuhs and Mary E. Dillon Fuhs. He was a graduate of Fort Plain High School and was a lifetime area resident.
Mr. Fuhs was well known in the community for being a school bus driver for Fort Plain Central School for many years until his retirement.
He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during World War II in Germany.
Mr. Fuhs was a member of the Adirondack and Stratford Beagle and Fox Hound Club and a member of the Kuyahoora Hare Club.
He was an avid beagle enthusiast and enjoyed running them in the field for beagle and fox hound trials. He loved the outdoors. John was a longtime member of the Fort Plain Volunteer Fire Department.
He was of Catholic faith.
Mr. Fuhs was predeceased by his life partner, Phyllis Brown on February 17, 2008, his brother, Kenneth L. Fuhs; and nephew, Kenneth R. Fuhs.
He is survived by his nephew, Jack Fuhs (Virginia) of Fort Plain, NY; great-nieces and great-nephews, Kenneth L. Fuhs, II (Richelle), Derek Fuhs (Kaitlin Monk), Brooke Fuhs, Jacob Fuhs, Andra Fuhs, Cris-John Fuhs; as well as many supportive friends.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 2:00pm at the Fort Plain Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339.
