Obituary of John W. Harrington

Mr. John W. Harrington, 49, of Erie Blvd., Canajoharie, New York died on Sunday, November 8, 2015, following a brief illness, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady with his family by his side. Born on February 12, 1966 in Amsterdam, NY, he was the son of Albon Harrington and Lizzie Dingman Harrington. He attended Fort Plain High School and was a lifetime area resident. For the past 17 years, Mr. Harrington worked as a foreman for Keymark Corp in Fonda, NY. Prior to his employment with Keymark he worked as a farmer and carpenter. John was a past member of the South Minden Fire Department as well as past member of the Van Hornesville Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Tri-County Coon Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. John was a diehard Patriot's fan who loved watching football. On October 16, 1999 at the Windfall Dutch Barn in Saltspringville, NY, John was married to Amy Harrington. His parents predeceased John. In addition to his wife, Amy Harrington of Canajoharie, NY, John is also survived by his sons, John Edick, Christopher Harrington; step-daughters, Kayla Vogel, Crystal Vogel; grandchildren, Cayden Edick, Riley Edick, Courtney Murphy, Brian Battisti, Jr., Shaylee Vogel, Darren Vogel, Clarissa Smith, Michael Smith; sister, Lizzie Stevens and her husband, Gilbert; brother, Albon Harrington and his wife, Wendy; niece, Crystal Soto and her husband, Charlie; nephew, Justin Stevens and his wife, Allie; 1 great-niece; 3 great-nephews. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 2:00pm at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY with Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 from 4:00-7:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Mr. John Harrington may be made to the charity of one's choice.
