Miss Joan M. Smith, 74, of Ridge Road in Canajoharie, passed away on Friday evening, December 21 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. Joan was born in Fort Plain, New York on November 17, 1933, the daughter of Harry Renwick and Evelyn F. Duesler Smith and the granddaughter of Alvin and MInnie Duesler.
Joan was a life-long area resident and attended Fort Plain School. She was a member of the Canajoharie Reformed Church. She attended the Fort Plain ARC on Canal Street and enjoyed spending time at the senior center in Fort Plain.
Joan loved music. She was a special fan of Bobby Vinton and knew the words to all of his songs. She attended his concerts, met hims and was photographed with him.
She is survived by two cousins, Dorothy Robinson of Fort Plain, New York and Leah Cook of Starkville, New York. She will be greatly missed by her friends and caregivers at Liberty Enterprises and the Montgomery County ARC.
