Pauline M. Coleman
Pauline M. Coleman, 95, of West Skyline Drive in Palatine Bridge, New York died early Wednesday morning, December 26, 2007 in Shawnee, Kansas at the home of her daughter. She was born June 9, 1912 in Mound City, Kansas, the daughter of Perry and Martha Mitchell Murray.
Mrs. Coleman was an elementary school teacher at Brushton-Moira Central School in Moira, New York. She has been a resident of Canajoharie since 1994, moving here from North Lawrence, New York.
Mrs. Coleman was an avid reader who also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles; during the latter years of her life she especially enjoyed completing Biblical crossword puzzles. She also loved flowers and gardening, with roses being her favorite flower. During the summer she especially enjoyed sitting in her rocking chair on the front porch telling stories of her childhood to her two youngest grandchildren Ian and Keven Coleman. She was a woman who saw great changes throughout her life: from growing up on a farm in Eastern Kansas, using horses to till the fields, to the trauma of the Great Depression and World War II, to the technological boom that has occurred in the last 40 years. She was passionate in telling about her life experiences and about all these many changes and the impact they had on her life. Everyone who came to know her affectionately called her "Gram".
For many years Mrs. Coleman hosted a weekly bible study, inviting various ladies from around the community to join her in studying God's Word. Mrs. Coleman was a devout Christian and student of the Bible.
She was married on May 6, 1947 in Everton, Missouri to Oliver E. Coleman who passed away on October 14, 2002. She is also predeceased by her daughter, Jeanne Kay Coleman who died February 5, 2001.
