Mr. Allan G. Palmateer, 57, of St. Hwy. 10, Fort Plain, New York, died suddenly Sunday morning, January 27, 2008 at home. He was born in Little Falls, New York on August 15, 1950, the son of Gilbert S. Palmateer and Ada M. Voght.
Mr. Palmateer attended Fort Plain High School. He worked as a mechanic for Midas in Clifton Park. Allan had also worked as a supervisor in waste management for Mercury Waste Solutions in Burlington, Wisconsin for many years.
Mr. Palmateer was a local area resident, previously residing in Wisconsin.
Mr. Palmateer was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper from 1970-1972 receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Parachutist Badge, Expert Gunner Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, as well as 1 Campaign Star.
He was of Methodist faith.
Mr. Palmateer was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. Allan was proud of his daughters and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.
Mr. Palmateer is survived by his mother, Ada Mae Palmateer of Palatine Bridge, NY; his daughters, Theresa Palmateer of Canajoharie, NY and Lisa Palmateer of Clifton Park, NY. He is also survived by his sisters, Victoria L. Matteson of Canajoharie, NY, Jeanette A. Allen of Sale Creek, TN, Linda K. Garretson of Wyantskill, NY, Patricia E. Keller of Monroe, OH, Laura L. Famiglietti of Gloversville, NY; his brother, Mark I. Palmateer of Alachua, FL; aunts, Clara E. Fredericks of Frankfort, NY, Alberta A. Voght of Fonda, NY; an uncle, Clifford R. Voght of Fort Hunter, NY and a great aunt, Helena Elworthy of Canajoharie, NY.
Allan is predeceased by his father, Gilbert S. Palmateer, January 24, 1986, and one brother, Robert S. Palmateer, August 20, 2004.
