Obituary of Richard Joseph Bentz

Mr. Richard Joseph Bentz, 83, of Division Street, Fort Plain, New York, died Wednesday, February 14, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, NY. He was born February 27, 1924 in Fort Plain, NY a son of Jospeh Bentz and Florence Eutermarks. Mr. Bentz attended Fort Plain Schools. Most recently Mr. Bentz worked for Beech-Nut Corp. in Canajoharie, NY. He also drove truck for Griffis Air Force Base. Mr. Bentz was a lifetime resident of Fort Plain. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Fort Plain United Methodist Church. Richard was a member of the Canajoharie Country Club. He was a beloved golfer and enjoyed bowling in his younger years. He was a life member of the Fort Plain VFW Earl Stock Memorial Post #3275. Survivors include, a sister, Rose Marie Smith of Fort Plain, NY; a brother, Robert Bentz of Fort Plain, NY, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Bentz was predeceased by two brothers, Rufus and Donald Bentz.
