Mrs. Petronella "Nellie" M. Heiser, 85, of Clinton Road, Canajoharie, New York, died early Monday morning, March 17, 2008 at home following a long illness.
Born on April 24, 1922 in Meerssen, Limburg, Holland she was a daughter of Hendrick Palmen and Odilia Kengen.
Mrs. Heiser has been a resident of Clinton Road in Canajoharie for 61 years, previously residing in Holland.
Mrs. Heiser was studying to be a school teacher in Holland.
She worked for the Dutch Underground during WWII during the Nazi ocupation of Holland.
She was a communicate of Auriesville Shrine in Fonda, NY.
Mrs. Heiser loved to cook Dutch recipes for her family.
Petronella was married on September 28, 1946 to Donald E. Heiser at the Catholic rectory in Canajoharie, NY. They celebrated 61 years of marriage, having met during her husbands service in World War II in Meerssen, Limburg, Holland. She became a US citizen after marrying.
In addition to her husband, Donald E. Heiser of Canajoharie, NY she is survived by a daughter, Odilia and son in law Helmut Deeg of Schenectady, NY; her sisters, Paula Habets and Leis Wagelaar of Holland and five grandchildren, Christopher Deeg, Petra O'Clair, Marissa Walter, Sarah Demers, and Laura Adams; five great granddaughters and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Petronella was predeceased by her brothers, Peirre, Lambert and Matthew Palmen.
