Obituary of William M. Hoffman

Mr. William M. Hoffman, 73, of Fort Plain, New York, died suddenly at his residence on April 10, 2008 following a short illness.
Born on February 18, 1935, he was the son of the late James and Jessie (Pendrak) Hoffman.
A resident of Fort Plain his entire life, he graduated from Fort Plain High School in 1952. He attended the School of Radio and Television Technology in New York City after high school and graduated from Hudson Valley Community College in 1970 with a degree in printing.
He was employed by Home Food Service in the mid 60's and later by the Courier Standard in Fort Plain. He also worked in Schenectady during the early 70's as a printer and later he was employed by Montgomery County as a senior printer from 1974 until his retirement in 1999 after 25 years of service.
He was active as a little league coach and in the Fort Plain Sports Booster Club where he was a former president and received the honorary Athlete of the Year award in 1980. Bill was an avid photographer and amateur film maker his entire life. He was a New York Yankees baseball and New York Giants football fan. He also enjoyed many trips to Saratoga during the July and August of the flat track season.
He was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church in Fort Plain.
On April 27, 1963 he married Marie Federico in Mechanicville, NY. She preceded him in death on September 27, 1999.
Bill is survived by two sons; Mark (Karen) of Fonda and Martin (Christine) of Fort Plain; a grandson, Samuel who he was very proud of and cherished the most. He is also survived by two step-grandchildren, Joshua and Nicole both of Fonda, NY; a brother, Robert of Remsen, NY; a sister, Elizabeth of Tonawanda, NY; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
