Mrs. Joann M. Hudyncia, 76, of Main Street, Fort Plain, New York died Monday, February 13, 2017 at St. Mary's Healthcare in Amsterdam, following a brief illness.
Born on July 17, 1940 in Fort Plain, NY, she was the daughter of Charles Scabar and Beatrice Trembley. She was a graduate of Fort Plain High School, Class of 1957. She received her Associate's degree from Albany Business College and was a lifetime area resident.
Mrs. Hudyncia worked for Visiting Nurses Home Care for almost 20 years. Prior to that she and her husband ran the family farm for over 32 years.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain.
Joann enjoyed flowers, gardening, completing word puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren and adored pets.
On June 25, 1960 at the Former St. James Roman Catholic Church in Fort Plain, NY, Joann was married to Alex Hudyncia.
Mrs. Hudyncia is survived by her husband, Alex Hudyncia of Fort Plain, NY; 2 sons, Charles and Tina Hudyncia of Fort Plain, NY, Richard and MaryBeth Hudyncia of Fort Plain, NY; 2 daughters, Kathy and Adam Swartz of Fort Plain, NY, Karen Hudyncia of Albany, NY; 4 grandchildren, Charles Hudyncia and Emily Canary, Liza Hudyncia, Brianna Swartz, and Tyler Swartz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 10:30am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY with Father Jim Davis officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday February 17th, 2017 from 4:00-7:00PM at Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339. Burial will take place in the spring at Fort Plain Cemetery.
