Obituary of Sarah Ann Smith

Mrs. Sarah Ann Smith, 100, formerly of Montgomery Street, Canajoharie, New York died Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Palatine Nursing Home. Born on February 10, 1915 in Sharon Springs, NY, she was the daughter of Oakley Eldridge and Ella Ottman Eldridge. She was a gradutate of Cobleskill High School. She had been a resident of Montgomery County since July 14, 1989. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Cobleskill Lutheran Church, where she was also a Sunday School Teacher and member of the Church Choir. She enjoyed playing cards with the Senior Group and writing poetry. In 1938 at the Parsonage of the Cobleskill Lutheran Church, Sarah was married to Archie Fayette Smith. Her husband predeceased her along with her sisters, Ruth Sacia, Irene Stafford, and niece, Elizabeth Brumaghim. Mrs. Smith is survived by her nephew Roger Stafford and great-nephew, Bruce Brumaghim of Schenectady, NY. A Graveside Service celebrating Sarah's life will be held in the spring at Slate Hill Cemetery.
