Mrs. Mary K. Sobecki, 90, of Tibbits Avenue, Troy, New York, formerly of Willett Street, Fort Plain, New York, died Saturday, September 20, 2008 at Eddy Heritage House Nursing Center in Troy, New York, following a brief illness.
Born on December 21, 1917 in Fort Plain, NY, she was the daughter of Romolo Bruschetti and Josephine Biasini Bruschetti.
Mrs. Sobecki was educated in Fort Plain School.
Most recently Mrs. Sobecki was employed as a machine operator at Life Savers in Canajoharie, NY for 10 years. Prior to that, she was a seamstress and presser, working with her husband, at the former Morsec-Jenkins Dry Cleaners in Fultonville, NY.
She was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Sobecki was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church in Fort Plain.
On January 5, 1947 she married Edmund J. Sobecki at St. James Roman Catholic Church in Fort Plain. He preceded her in death on April 1, 2006.
Mrs. Sobecki is survived by a daughter, Andrea Sobecki of Petersburg, NY; brothers, Remo Bruschetti of Palatine Bridge, NY and Guito Bruschetti of Canajoharie, NY. Also surviving is her grandson, Zachary Sobecki of Caroga Lake, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, Mary is also predeceased by her son, Stephen J. Sobecki, November 5, 1994; a daughter, Jamie T. Sobecki, January 29, 2005; and her sisters, Flora Bruschetti and Anita Bruschetti.
