Obituary of Richard W. Nettleton

Mr. Richard W. Nettleton, 81, of McEwan Road, Canajoharie, New York died Friday, January 29, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his loving family, following a long battle with cancer. Born on June 21, 1934 in Woodgate, NY, he was the son of Harry Nettleton and Mary McSwenny Nettleton. He attended Canajoharie High School and spent most of his life in Marshville, NY. Mr. Nettleton was a lifelong truck driver. He was a member of the Marshville Evangelical Church. Mr. Nettleton enjoyed being outside, gardening, hunting and fishing. He loved watching car races and truck pulls. On September 19, 1953 Richard married Marie C. Nettleton. She preceded him in death on February 18, 2015. His son, Randy Nettleton, daughter, Deborah Nettleton, and sister, Ruth Fox predeceased him. Mr. Nettleton is survived by his 6 children, Rick Nettleton, Cindy Yacobucci, Ron Nettleton, Bob Nettleton, Bill Nettleton, Shelly MacFadden; 7 grandchildren, Scott Rickard, Natasha Koelbl, Ericka Nettleton Ryder, Mike Yacobucci, Silvio Yacobucci, Jim Yacobucci, Angela Yacobucci; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 2:00pm at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otesgo Street, Canajoharie, NY with Rev. R.W. Williams officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 1:00-2:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place Monday in Fort Plain Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
