Natalie L. Countryman
Mrs. Natalie L. Countryman, 83, of Walnut Street, Canajoharie, New York, died Saturday evening, December 6, 2008 at St. Johnsville Nursing Home, where she resided for ten days.
Born on December 28, 1924 in the Town of Cherry Valley, she was the daughter of Maynard Wikoff and Cecile Snyder Wikoff.
She graduated from Cherry Valley Schools in the class of 1943.
For many years, Mrs. Countryman was a lunchroom aide at West Hill School in Canajoharie. She retired in 1986 to take care of her grandchildren.
Mrs. Countryman had been a Canajoharie area resident for 54 years. Previously she had resided in Cherry Valley.
She served on the Board of Election in Canajoharie.
Mrs. Countryman was of Protestant faith.
She was devoted to her family. Mrs. Countryman was an avid Jeff Gordon NASCAR fan and, at one time, she worked at the concessions at Fonda Speedway.
On April 23, 1949, Natalie married Orville "Bud" Countryman in the Town of Cherry Valley at the home of the bride. He preceded her in death on January 20, 2002.
Mrs. Countryman is survived by her three daughters, Alice Countryman of Canajoharie, NY, Janet Snyder and her husband, Richard of Canajoharie, NY, Carol Heroth and her husband, Dwayne of Fort Plain, NY; two brothers, Walter and Cora Wikoff of Cherry Valley, NY, Dean Wikoff of Cobleskill, NY; a sister-in-law, Shirley Maring of Utica, NY; two grandchildren, Jaynie Synder of Canajoharie, NY and Kreig Heroth of Fort Plain, NY. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Countryman is also predeceased by a brother, Maurice Wikoff and a sister, Audrey Hendricks.
