Mrs. Wilma V. Wheeler, 93, of St. Johnsville, New York died Tuesday morning, December 23, 2008 at St. Johnsville Nursing Home following a brief illness.
Born on September 9, 1915 in Windom, PA, she was the daughter of Fred Nichols and Lelah Smith Nichols.
Mrs. Wheeler was educated at Endicott Union High School in Endicott, NY.
She was employed at Beech-Nut Corporation in Canajoharie, NY in the food processing area for eight years. She had also worked at Arkell & Smith Factory and Palatine Dye, retiring many years ago.
She had been a resident of the area since 1932.
Mrs. Wheeler was a member of St. John's & St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Canajoharie, NY.
She enjoyed spending time at camp on Otsego Lake and gardening.
Mrs. Wheeler was married on December 24, 1937 in Canajoharie, NY to Harold L. Wheeler, Sr. He preceded her in death on August 26, 1986.
Mrs. Wheeler is survived by two daughters, Jeannette Simpson of Canajoharie, NY, Cathy Swears of South Lake Tahoe, CA; a son, Harold L. Wheeler, Jr. of St. Johnsville, NY; a sister, Marjorie Ives of Sacramento, CA; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
