Mrs. Dorothy M. Maaser, 86, of Paris Road, Fort Plain, New York died Wednesday morning, January 21, 2009 at Basset Healthcare in Cooperstown.
Born on June 28, 1922 in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of Arthur Frantz and Adeline Thurau. She was a graduate of East Stroudsburg High School in East Stroudsburg, PA.
Mrs. Maaser was a mother and homemaker and had been a resident of Fort Plain since 1993. Prior to moving to Fort Plain she was a resident of Lake Worth, FL for 24 years.
Mrs. Maaser was of Roman Catholic faith. She loved to read, knit and crochet.
On October 9, 1943 she married Sgt. Peter F. Maaser in St. Matthews Church in East Stroudsburg, PA. Together they celebrated 65 years of marriage.
In addition to her husband, Peter F. Maaser, Sr. of Fort Plain, NY, she is also survived by her 4 sons, Peter F. Maaser, Jr. (Marie) of Ashland, MA, Arthur B. Maaser (Joann) of Nashua, NH, Joe Maaser (Linda) of Schnecksville, PA, Walter S. Maaser (Alice) of Fort Plain, NY; 2 daughters, Lorraine M. Corcoran (William) of Loxahatchee, FL, Patricia Hruby of West Palm Beach, FL; brothers, Bernard Frantz of Stroudsburg, PA, Arthur Frantz of Port Charlotte, FL; a sister Helen Morgan of South Carolina; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Maaser is predeceased by a sister, Marian Horn and a grandson, Jason Maaser.
