Obituary of Elizabeth M. Kane

Mrs. Elizabeth M. Kane, 79, of Washington Street, Johnstown, New York died, Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 21, 1938 and was the daughter of Howard and Dorothy May. She had been a resident of the Johnstown area since 1975, previously residing in Nelliston. Mrs. Kane worked for Johnstown Knit for several years. She enjoyed games, cards, and time out with family and friends; playing spoons and piano, and camping. On November 17, 1956 in Canajoharie, NY, Elizabeth was married to LeRoy E. Kane. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1994. Her brother, Howard and sisters, Gladys, and Ethel also predeceased her. Mrs. Kane is survived by her son, Larry E. Kane of Fonda, NY; daughters, Deanne M. Hill & Bob, Judy M. Lake and Randy P., Cindy L. Christman and Tim, all of Ephratah, NY; brothers, Jack, Lloyd, Roger, Paul; sisters, Phyllis, Barbara; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; companion, David Gillin; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 10:00am at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY with Pastor Bonnie Orth officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, October 27, 2017 from 4:00-7:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Canajoharie Falls Cemetery.
