Obituary of Marie Hennessy

Mrs. Marie Hennessy, 78, of Canajoharie, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Mountain Valley Hospice House in Gloversville, New York.
Born in Bayonne, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late John Sullivan and Mabel Jacobs Sullivan. She attended Holy Family Academy and graduated from Bayonne High School. She subsequently was employed as a secretary for Westinghouse International on Wall Street, New York City.
She married Harold P. Hennessy in 1951 in Bayonne, NJ. They later moved to Herkimer, NY and finally to Canajoharie in 1959, where they resided except for a period during 1969 and 1970 when they lived in Rumson, NJ.
Marie was an active parishioner at St. Peter's & Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Canajoharie, where she served as a Eucharistic minister. She taught religious education, was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America for many years, and supported a number of religious organizations. She was also active in the Mohawk Valley Women's Club (formerly Colonial Club).
In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Marie's hobbies and interests included gardening, bird watching, photography, and music. Her happiest times were those spent with family and in her garden. Marie's smile and humor complimented an enduring love of life and family and brought joy to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
Marie is survived by her husband, Harold and five children, Deborah Windover and her husband Mark of Williamstown, MA, Paul Hennessy and his wife Junko of Orlando, FL, Brian Hennessy and his wife Sally of Chantilly, VA, Kevin Hennessy and his wife Nancy of Albany, NY, and Joanne Hennessy of Cohoes, NY.
She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Eric Windover, Molly Windover, Emily Windover, Kenneth Hennessy, Elizabeth Windover, Michael Hennessy, David Hennessy; four great-grandchildren, Ruby and Phoebe Kauffman, Evan Windover, and Liam Stewart; her sister-in-law, Doris Flynn; two nieces and several cousins.
