Ms. Mary E. Swanson, 82, longtime resident of Fort Plain, New York, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Valley Health Services in Herkimer following a brief illness. Born on July 10, 1926 in Mobile, AL, she was the daughter of Henry Kelly Franelich and Alice Evelyn Haigler Franelich. Ms. Swanson attended schools in Alabama. She had been a local area resident since 1950. She was employed at the former Luxuray Mill in Fort Plain, NY as a seamstress for over 40 years. She was a member of the Fort Plain United Methodist Church. Ms. Swanson was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Fort Plain VFW Post #3275. She had a love for animals. Ms. Swanson is survived by her sons; Charles H. and Lillian Swanson of West Winfield, NY, Thomas A. and Joyce Swanson of Canajoharie, NY; sisters, Amelia and Connie of Alabama; granddaughters, Wendy and Dennis Elliott of Milford, NY, Stacy A. and Daniel Coveny of Springfield, NY, Janel Swanson and Chad Kretser of Nelliston, NY, Kasondra Swanson of Cooperstown, NY; a grandson Charles H. and Nicole Swanson of Vermont; great-granddaughters, Emily Elliott of Milford, NY, Eleanor Swanson of Vermont; great-grandsons, Blake Elliott of Mildford, NY , Raymond Swanson of Vermont, and Oliver Swanson of Vermont. She is predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Swanson.
