Mr. Joseph A. Lapi, 80, of West Grand Street, Palatine Bridge, NY, died suddenly Monday, June 22, 2009 at Albany Medical Center.
Born on October 24, 1928 in Fort Plain, NY, he was the son of Antonio Lapi and Josephine D'Arcangelis Lapi. He was a graduate of Fort Plain Central School and was a lifetime area resident.
Mr. Lapi was employed at Beech-Nut as a sanitation supervisor for over 30 years.
He served in the U.S. Army in the infantry during the Korea War.
Mr. Lapi was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church.
He was an avid Yankee fan, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Nelliston Elks and of the Cherry Valley Fish & Game Club.
He was married on July 21, 1951 in Fort Benning, GA to Elaine Cook.
Mr. Lapi is predeceased by two brothers, Philip and Louie Lapi.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Lapi of Palatine Bridge, NY; his children, James A. Lapi of Wynantskill, NY, JoAnn Erhardt of Montgomery, AL, Debbie (Eddie) Chamberlain of Glenville, NY, Nancy (Allen) Cadreau of Anaheim Hills, CA; thirteen grandchildren, James (Brenda) Lapi, Jay Lapi, Joseph (Susan) Lapi, Jack Lapi, Jesse Lapi, Benjamin (Laine) Chamberlain, Christine (Matt) Goss, Jerrold (Kristy) Erhardt, Bruce Erhardt, Jennifer (Clay) Rigsby, Allen J. Cadreau, Nicole Cadreau, Jessica Cadreau; nineteen great-grandchildren, Sherry Lapi, Brandon Lapi, Breanna Lapi, Devin Lapi, Jasmine Lapi, Nicki Lapi, Isabella Lapi, Alexandria Chamberlain, Sophia Goss, Daniella Chamberlain, Audrianna Chamberlain, Ansley Erhardt, Mallory Erhardt, Matthew Thomas, Clay Rigsby, Hannah Rigsby, Ethan Erhardt, and Aaron Erhardt.
