Obituary of Stuart M. Day

Mr. Stuart M. Day, 94, of Ames, New York died Saturday afternoon, June 27,2009 at Palatine Nursing Home. He was born on October 11, 1914 in Ames, New York, the son of Ebeneizer "Eben" S. and Anna Miller Day. Mr. Day was a graduate of Canajoharie High School, class of 1932. He was a resident of Canajoharie until the 1960's. He moved to Florida for 20 years, returning back to Canajoharie. Mr. Day was employed with the U.S. Postal Service in Canajoharie, New York as a mail carrier until his retirement. Prior to working for the Postal Service, he worked at his mother's store in Ames following World War II. He then worked at the Arkell Sack Factory in Canajoharie, GLF farm store in Fort Plain and Biancini appliance store in Sharon Springs, New York. Mr. Day served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a life member of the Fort Plain VFW Earl Stock Memorial Post #3275. He was a member of the Ames-Sprout Brook United Methodist Church. He was an active member of the Ames Fire Department and was past Fire Chief. He had been an avid hunter from his youth to adulthood. Mr. Day was an outdoorsman and loved golfing into his 80's. On July 31, 1936, he married Edythe Helen Dievendorf at the Gloversville Methodist Church. She died on September 6, 1990. He is survived by two daughters, Marlene Lambert and her husband, Ellsworth, Jr. and Donna Kuntzsch and her husband, Fred, Sr. , both of Canajoharie, New York. Mr. Day is also survived by grandchildren, Jeffrey and his wife Ami Lambert, Stephen Lambert, Christopher and his wife Rebecca Lambert, Lisa and her husband Howard Nicholson, Kevin Bush, and Stacy and her husband Charles Parrino along with step-grandchildren, Mary and her husband Charles Guere, Connie and her husband Philip Nalli, Nancy Herting and her fiancé Dick Nellis, Fred Kuntzsch, Jr., Gordon and his wife Tracy Kuntzsch, 9 great-grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren.
