Obituary of Ellen Von Der Born Post

Mrs. Ellen Von Der Born Post, 85, formerly of Shaper Ave., Canajoharie, New York died Sunday morning, June 28, 2009 at the Mountain Valley Hospice House, Gloversville, NY. Born on August 15, 1923 in Glen Cove, Long Island, NY, she was the daughter of Charles J. Von Der Born and Grace Elizabeth Curtin Von Der Born. She was a graduate of Fort Plain High School and a lifetime area resident. Mrs. Post most recently worked as the village clerk/treasurer for the Village of Canajoharie from June 1967 until March 1991. She stared under Mayor Arthur Fleming continuing until her retirement under Mayor Ron Dievendorf. Mrs. Post was a communicant of St. Peter's & Paul's Roman Catholic Church. She liked to sew, read and was devoted to her family. On December 28, 1943 she married Wallace Henry Post in Fort Plain, NY. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1983. Mrs. Post is also predeceased by a son, Wallace Patrick Post, who died on January 22, 2008; her sisters, Lucille Bartlett, Elizabeth Conrad, Ann Touhey, Rose Baeurle; and a niece Mary Bartlett. She is survived by her daughters, Shelia Post of Canajoharie, NY, Nora and Richard Collins of Palatine Bridge, NY; granddaughters, Yvette Falzarine of Fort Plain, NY, Thea and Javier Martinez of Miami Beach, FL; great-grandson, Christion Peter Falzarine of Fort Plain, NY; great-granddaughter, Penelope Rose Martinez of Miami Beach, FL; a sister, Alice Collins of Palatine Bridge, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
