Mr. William W. Ortlieb, 92, of Van Buren Street, Dolgeville, New York, died Friday, July 10, 2009 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica, New York with his loving family at his side.
Born on December 3, 1916 in Dolgeville, New York, he was the son of Reinhart C. Ortlieb and Julia Hoerz Ortlieb. Mr. Ortlieb attended Dolgeville High School and have been a resident of Dolgeville his entire life.
Mr. Ortlieb was most recently employed at Remington Arms in Ilion, New York, previously working at UNIVAC, and, when he was younger, he worked with his father at Ortlieb's Market.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army.
He was of Protestant faith.
Mr. Ortlieb enjoyed tree pruning, preservation and gardening. He also enjoyed listening to the radio, reading the newspapers and spending time with his family. He was a loving father and will be greatly missed by his family.
In 1947, he was married to Virginia Collins Ortlieb.
Mr. Ortlieb is survived by his wife, Virginia C. Ortlieb of Herkimer, New York ; his son, David William Ortlieb of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; his daughters, Sharon and John Ciko of Herkimer, New York and Brenda Ortlieb and Lawrence Dobson of Palatine Bridge, New York; five grandchildren, Robert Keyser of Valley Falls, New York, Erika Ciko of Herkimer, New York, Elizabeth, William and Faith Ann Ortlieb all of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Ortlieb was predeceased by his siblings, Reinhart B. Ortlieb, Albert Ortlieb, Hilda Frye, Elsa Clark and Emily Sarpen.
