Mrs. Jean A. Faraci, 93, formerly of Garfield Street, Fort Plain, New York died Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Wells Nursing Home in Johnstown.
Born on June 27, 1923 in Roxbury, NY, she was the daughter of Carlo Ciaravino and Antonette LoPresto Ciaravino. She attended Grand George Central School. Later in life she received her General Education Diploma. She had been a resident of the Fort Plain area since 1951, previously residing in Roxbury.
Mrs. Faraci was a mother and a homemaker.
She was very involved with the Boy Scouts Pack 61. She was a Den Mother and Cub Master and received the "Silver Beaver" award, which is one of the highest awards to be given to a person. She was also involved with 4H and Girl Scouts. Mrs. Faraci was a member of the Catholic Daughters of Americas Court Catherine Esther #1264. She was a bowling enthusiast and an avid fisherwoman. She was also a fan of both the Yankees and Mets.
On November 14, 1943 in Roxbury, NY, Jean was married to John C. Faraci. Together they celebrated 64 years of marriage until his death on March 24, 2008. Her brother, Michael Ciaravino also predeceased her.
Mrs. Faraci is survived by her sons, Joe and Karla Faraci of Fort Worth, TX, Larry Faraci of Florida; 2 daughters, Robin and Richard Rivenburg of Frankfort, NY, Christine Boutell of Wilmington, NC; 5 sisters, Mamie, Mary, Martha, Jenny, Lena; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Noon at The Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 10:00-12:00pm. Burial will take place at Fort Plain Cemetery at a later date.
