Obituary of Marian B. Groat

Miss Marian B. Groat, 91, of School Street, Nelliston, New York, died early Sunday morning, August 30, 2009 at Palatine Nursing Home after a brief illness. She was born in Sharon Hill, New York, on May 26, 1918, the daughter of Frank and Rowena Richtmyer Groat.
Miss Groat was educated in Nelliston and graduated from Fort Plain School. She was a lifelong area resident. She was a Supervisor for 20 years of the Cutting Department of the former Luxuray Mill of Fort Plain, New York. Previously, she was a cutting department clerk for 29 years at Luxuray. She retired after 49 years in 1986. She was of the Protestant faith.
Miss Groat was predeceased by all her siblings: three sisters: Miss Margaret R. Groat, Ester Swanson and Carleta Iveson, and two brothers: Lloyd Groat and Kenneth Groat.
She is survived by four nieces: Mrs. Gerry & Edward Sitterly of Fort Plain, Mrs. Nancy & Ike Johnson of Spanish Springs, Nevada, Mrs. Joan & Frank Bussa of Reno, Nevada and Mrs. Betty & Bill Quilici of Scottsdale, Arizona and one nephew Roger and Sherry Iveson of Reno, Nevada. She is also survived by several grandnieces and grandnephews.
A Funeral service for Miss Groat will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the Gray-Houghtaling and Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, New York with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman Officiating. Friends and family may call from 5:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 1 at the funeral home.
Burial will take place in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery, Cobleskill, New York
