Mr. Kenneth E. Humbert, 86, of Abbott Street, Fort Plain, NY, died Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, NY following a long illness.
Born on September 19, 1922 in Ontario, California, he was the son of Harry Humbert and Henrietta Butler Humbert. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Ontario, CA. He spent most of his adult life in the Fort Plain area.
Most recently, Mr. Humbert, was employed by M&G Convoy as a tractor-trailer driver, delivering cars to dealerships. Mr. Humbert was a member of the Teamsters Union Local #294 of Albany. He retired in the late 1980s.
Mr. Humbert was in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the South Pacific, Pearl Harbor, and Guadalcanal.
He was of Catholic faith.
Mr. Humbert was a life member and Past Commander of the Fort Plain VFW Earl Stock Memorial Post #3275 and a member of the Fort Plain American Legion Post #554. He was a NASCAR and stockcar fan. In his early years he owned and enjoyed working on stockcars with his friends.
On March 27, 1962 in Cannan, CT, he was married to Angelina Augustine. She preceded him in death on January 14, 2004.
In addition to his wife, he was also predeceased by his brother, Oliver Humbert and sisters, Patsy and Virginia Alexander.
Mr. Humbert is survived by his daughters, Barbara and John King of Rolla, MO, Kim Clark of Rolla, MO; stepsons, Donald A. and Gloria Augustine of Fort Plain, NY, Vance G. and Elaine Augustine of Canajoharie, NY; a sister, Erenestine Allison of Hendson, NV; grandchildren, Teresa Pranger, Sherry and Kevin Suits, Christopher Augustine, Donald Augustine, Jr., Kelly Augustine, Stephen Himpsl, and Scott Himpsl, John Ryan King II, Shan Hale, Brittanny Connor, Morchele Clark and Kristina Venegas; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Suits, Zachary Suits, Alyssa King, Ian Hale, Dallas Hale, Genevieve Rennel, Dylan Connor, Kierra Connor, Jaymin Connor, Madison Clark, Donavan Vargas, Anthony Venegas and Ariana Venegas; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
