Obituary of Elaine D. Lapi

Mrs. Elaine D. Lapi, 88, of West Grand Street, Palatine Bridge, New York died Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 28, 1927 in Brainardsville, NY, she was the daughter of Ralph Cook and Katherine Phillips Cook. She was a graduate of Chateaugay High School, Class of 1943. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Plattsburgh Teacher's College. She had been a resident of Palatine Bridge since the 1970's. Mrs. Lapi was an educator for Fort Plain Central School from 1951-1982. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain. Mrs. Lapi was a member of NYS Retired Teacher's Association, and Catholic Daughters of Americas Court Catherine Esther #1264. On July 21, 1951 in Fort Benning, GA, Elaine was married to Joseph A. Lapi. He preceded her in death on June 22, 2009. Mrs. Lapi is survived by her 4 children, James A. Lapi of Palatine Bridge, NY, JoAnn Erhardt of Montgomery, AL, Debbie Chamberlain of Glenville, NY, Nancy (Allen) Cadreau of Anaheim Hills, CA; 13 grandchildren, James (Brenda) Lapi, Jay Lapi, Joseph (Susan) Lapi, Jack (Ashley) Lapi, Jesse Lapi, Benjamin (Laine) Chamberlain, Christine (Matt) Goss, Jerrold Erhardt, Bruce (Christine) Erhardt, Jennifer (Clay) Rigsby, Allen J. Cardreau, Nicole Cadreau, Jessica Cadreau; 23 Great-Grandchildren, Mallory and Coby Cameron, Ansley Erhardt, Ethan Erhardt, Aaron Erhardt, Sarah Erhardt, Matthew Rigsby, Clay Rigsby, Hannah Rigsby, Sherry Lapi, Brandon Lapi, Breanna Lapi, Devin Lapi, Isabella Lapi, Jasmine Lapi, Lily Lapi, Blake Lapi, Jesse Lapi, Jr., Sophia Goss, Alexandria Chamberlain, Daniella Chamberlain, Audrianna Chamberlain, Nicoletta Chamberlain; 1 great-great-grandchild, Giovanni; brother, Bob Cook; sister, Catherine (Leon) Schenker. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, March 17, 2016 from 5:00-8:00pm at The Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Elaine D.
