Louisa E. Burns, 88, of State Highway 5s, Fort Plain, NY, passed away on December 16, 2024, at Albany Medical Center.
Born on August 4, 1936, in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of Dewitt Webster Gros and Vivian Mary Bowman Gros. She graduated from Fort Plain High School, Class of 1955, and a 1976 graduate of Utica School for Practical Nursing, where she received her degree in Licensed Practical Nursing.
Mrs. Burns worked as an LPN for Little Falls Hospital for over 20 years. Following her graduation from high school, she also worked in the office for Nelson's Laundromat and for Luxuray in Fort Plain.
She was of Universalist Faith.
Mrs. Burns spent summers at camp on Otsego Lake with her family. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Fort Plain Chapter for over 50 years.
On September 7, 1956, at the Fort Plain Universalist Church, Louisa married Gerald W. Burns. He preceded her in death on May 27, 2020.
Mrs. Burns is survived by her son, Gerald J. Burns of Fort Plain, NY; sister-in-law, Patricia Kalinowski.
A Graveside service will be held in the spring at Fort Plain Cemetery, Clyde Street, Fort Plain, NY, and will be announced.
