Mrs. Ellen K. Walton, 92, formerly of Main Street, Fort Plain, NY, died on January 15th, 2025 at the Palatine Nursing Home.
Born on February 14, 1932, in Utica, NY she was the daughter of B.W. Kilty and Susan Armstrong Kilty. She was a graduate of West Winfield High School, class of 1949. Mrs. Walton received her Bachelor's degree from SUNY Plattsburg and a Masters Degree in Education from SUNY in Oneonta. She had been a resident of Fort Plain since 1977.
Mrs. Walton retired from Sharon Springs Central School in 1989 after 25 years as an elementary teacher. Before teaching from Sharon Springs she taught Home Economics at Fort Plain Central School for 2 years and began her teaching career as a Home Economics Teacher at Cobleskill Central School for 5 years.
She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Canajoharie.
Mrs. Walton was a member of the Schoharie County Retired Teachers Association and the NYS Retired Teachers Association. She was the past president of the 20th Century Club and the Federated Woman's Club.
On December 17, 1977, in Sharon Springs, NY, Ellen married Myron H. Walton, Jr.
Mrs. Walton was predeceased by a son and her husband, Myron H. Walton, Jr., on April 8, 2016, and her brothers Thomas A. and Jack R Kilty.
Mrs. Walton is survived by her two stepsons, Dr. Terry L. and Christine Walton of Glens Falls, NY, and Dr. Craig F. and his wife Karen Walton of Saratoga Springs, NY; sister-in-law Edith Kilty of West Windfield, NY; six-stepgrandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Graveside service will take place at Fort Plain Cemetery in the spring and will be announced.
