Obituary of Stella Wilder Leneker

Mrs. Stella Wilder Leneker, 90, of Pecan Trail, Garden City, South Carolina, died Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Davis Health Care in Wilmington, North Carolina following a long illness.
Born on February 24, 1919 in Sprakers, NY, she was the daughter of Alonzo Wilder and Elizabeth Russ Wilder. Mrs. Leneker was a graduate of Canajoharie High School, class of 1938. Mrs. Leneker had been a resident of Fort Plain from the time of her marriage in 1943 until 1983 when she and her husband moved to Garden City, South Carolina.
Mrs. Leneker was employed by Beech-Nut in the payroll department for 37 years, retiring in 1981.
While living in Fort Plain, she was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and she faithfully attended the Shepard of the Sea Lutheran Church once she moved to Garden City, SC.
Mrs. Leneker was a member of the Eastern Star of Fort Plain. She was known by all as a good wife, good neighbor and good friend. She loved having dinner with friends. She enjoyed golfing, crocheting and trips to South Carolina in October.
On August 4, 1943 in Wilmington, NC, she married Rufus F. Leneker. He preceded her in death on August 5, 1994.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Leneker was predeceased by her brother, Russell Wilder in March 2008; her nephews, Ronald Wilder and Donald Waner.
She is survived by her sisters, Lena Coso of Canajoharie, NY, Mary Hayes of Fonda, NY; her nephews, David W. and Janet P. Hayes of Fonda, NY, Paul Coso of Johnstown, NY, Richard Waner of Canajoharie, NY; nieces, Gaile Bizzarro of Johnstown, NY, JoAnn Rehms of Troy, NY, Kathy Wilder of Troy, NY; and several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
