Walter L. May Obituary

Walter May, most recently of St. Johnsville, NY, formerly of Fort Plain, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 4th, 2024.


He was born in Havelock, South Carolina, in 1955. He was raised in Brookfield, Massachusetts, graduating from Tantasqua Regional High School, Class of 1973. He joined the Marine Corps right after high school. He was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1985 with the rank of Staff Sargent.


He was a truck driver for many years. He lived in Hamden, ME, for many years, where he was an active member of the Marine Corps League and the Devil Dogs.


He was predeceased by his wife of 21 years, Geneva (Rogers) May, his parents, Horace and Lorraine (Farquharson) May, and a sister, Janice Moholland.


Survivors include his sister, Susan (Joseph) Keith, with whom he lived, two nieces, two nephews, 15 grandnieces and nephews, several cousins, and four aunts and uncles.


Burial will take place with his wife at the Brookfield Cemetery, Brookfield, Mass. at a later date.


Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Fort Plain Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339.
