Obituary of Jack Dygert

Mr. Jack Dygert, 71, of Sprakers Road, Sprakers, NY, passed away on September 5, 2024, at the Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, NY.
Jack was born on December 9, 1952, the son of Alfred Nelson Dygert and Blanche Mae Jones Dygert.
He graduated from Canajoharie High School, Class of 1971, and went onto FMCC at a later date.
Jack worked at Planters/Lifesavers for many years until it moved from the local area. After this, he held several short-term jobs, but most people will remember him as the toll collector who was always friendly and helpful. While working as a toll collector, he also worked at Wal-Mart, assembling grills and bikes, a job which he truly loved.
From 1972 until 1976, he served as a ranking Sergeant in the US Air Force. He also served as a police officer in Canajoharie for several years.
He was a member of the Sprakers Reformed Church, where he volunteered in many aspects, especially helping with their pancake dinners. He was a well-known car lover and motorcycle enthusiast. He enjoyed going for a ride on sunny days and talking to people about their cars or his.
He was predeceased by his brothers Donald Dygert, Robert Dygert, Raymond Dygert, and Jerry Dygert, as well as sisters Margie and Dorthy.
His survivors include his son Daniel and his wife Erin Dygert, daughter Jennifer and Wes Hooper, granddaughter Kayleigh, brother Lester Dygert, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 10:00 to 12:00 on Tuesday, September 10th, 2024. A funeral will follow at noon at the Houghtaling and Hanley Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. Rev. Nancy Ryan will officiate. Burial will follow at Freysbush Cemetery.
