Mrs. Betty Lou Pessolano, of Ames, NY, died August 26, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 6th, 1947, the daughter of the late Everett and Vivian Shunk. She attended Canajoharie High School and obtained an associate's degree in business.

She was the owner and administrator of Marshon Manor, Sharon Springs, NY, for 36 years.

On December 13, 1996, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Pessolano. Together, they raised five children.

Betty was predeceased by her sons Lawrance Pawlaczyk and Walter Pawlaczyk and sisters Bonnie Leach and Lisa Kadur.

She is survived by her husband, Ken Pessalano, of Ames, NY; children Cathy (Bill) Jones of Canajoharie, George (Laurinda) Pawlaczyk of Sharon Springs, NY, and Tonya (Tim) Trafton of Cobleskill; siblings Linda Ruszkowski and Tina Dalmata; seven grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Her passions were her family, her home, and gardening. She will be remembered for her caring nature, her mentoring of many future nurses, and her offering of internships for future healthcare workers.

As per Betty's wishes, services will be private and at the family's convenience, and burial will take place at Ames Cemetery.

Arrangments are entrusted to Houghtaling and Hanley Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
