Manuel R. Montal

Mr. Manuel R. Montal, 82, a longtime resident of Schenectady, New York, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024, at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, New York.

Born on July 25, 1941, in Queens, New York, he was the son of the late Joseph S. and Anna (Kopf) Montal. He moved to the Town of Root in 1949, attending and graduating from Canajoharie Central School in 1959. He was a Vietnam War Era Veteran who first enlisted with the US Air Force in 1961 and later enlisted in the US Navy completing his service in 1970.

He was preceded in death by his brother Raymond J. Montal.

He is survived by his two nephews, Richard Montal of the Town of Root, and Russ Montal along with his wife, Kathy, and their 2 children Jess and Joseph of Foxborough, MA.

He worked in various industries spanning construction and a diverse group of retail operations. He held positions as a laborer, bookkeeper, manager and finally as a general accountant.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Elks, Lodge# 2157, Rotterdam, New York.

He enjoyed good food and many laughs while spending time with family and friends. During his lifetime, he was active in local golf, pool, and bowling leagues.

All services will be private. Interment will take place at the Saratoga National Cemetery in Saratoga, New York.
