Mrs. Aletha Ann Frasier Ryan, 49, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at her home in Saint Johnsville with her loving family by her side.
Aletha fought a courageous battle with lung cancer for the past 4 years. She was the beloved wife of William J. Ryan of Saint Johnsville.
Aletha was born in Ticonderoga NY, on June 10,1966, and grew up in Pottersville, NY. She was the daughter of Harold "Hoppy" and Arleen (Allard) Frasier.
Aletha worked at many restaurants around Pottersville as a waitress while growing up. While working at Smith's Restaurant in North Creek, NY, she met her husband, William. They were united in matrimony on December 29, 1990.
Aletha also worked at Ames department store in Palatine Bridge, NY and most recently at Hannaford Supermarket in Amsterdam, NY. While there, she made countless friends and had special coworkers before she retired in 2014 due to her illness.
Besides her husband, William, Aletha leaves her mother, Arleen Frasier, 3 daughters Hope and Adam Achzet, Brittany Ryan, and Misty and Ryan Dygert, all of St. Johnsville,NY and a son Joshua Ryan of St. Johnsville,NY, 2 Brothers Stephen Frasier of Pottersville,NY, Christian Frasier Of Pottersville, NY, sister Deborah Porter and husband James of Pottersville,NY. Aletha also leaves 9 grandchildren Ryan, Liam, Olivia, Tristan, Elizabeth, Faith, Stevie, Ava, and Mason; as well as dedicated family friend, Alicia Villegas, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
Aletha was an incredible person and loved spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She also loved to hunt, fish, swim, and visit Maine in the summers with her husband. She also enjoyed gardening and reading. She took great pride in her home and simply spending time with her friends and family. She was a mom to many and a friend to all, whose door was always open to those in need.
A special thanks goes out to all the incredible staff at New York Oncology Hematology of Amsterdam who helped Aletha FIGHT LIKE A ROCK STAR for the past 4 years! Thank you.
At Aletha's request, a memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the Chapel of Gray - Houghtaling & Smith Funeral home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY with Rev. R.W Williams officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
