Thomas DeCamilla Obituary

Thomas DeCamilla Obituary

Thomas Edward DeCamilla was born on January 2, 1953 to Aldo and Anne (Catone) DeCamilla and went home to the Lord on April 19, 2024. Tom grew up in Hudson Falls and always held fond memories of his years there, especially his years as quarterback and the team’s big championship win; and remained a proud HF Tiger until the end.

Tom earned his BS in Hotel and restaurant administration from the University of New Hampshire and his MBA from Tulane. Owning Mohawk Station was his proudest accomplishment outside of his beloved daughter, Jana. Until his last days, he quoted himself at her birth, "Dad, got his wish." Tom was also very proud of his trophy for the best Chicken Riggies.

He was predeceased by his parents, brother Albert, and dear friends Cosmo Sciancalepore and Lindsey Carte. Tom is survived by the light of his life, his daughter Jana DeCamilla (Craig Simmons); his beloved grandchildren, Cire Rouse, Monarch, and Kenzo DeCamilla-Simmons; his stepchildren Erica (Tim) Bombard and Billy (Laura) Cartier; his ex-wife Karen (Wayne) Hymes, his lifelong friend Auggie Tarantino, and many beloved coworkers.

Hospitality was Tom’s calling and passion. He never really retired. In his later years, he found purpose and fulfillment in creating delicious menus for those in hospitals and nursing homes, including Albany Medical Center, Nathan Littauer in Gloversville, and St. Mary’s in Amsterdam. He taught and mentored many, most notably Cheyenne Marcell, who was especially dear to him. Tom's family extends a special thank you to his dear friends Dan and Charles for their support and assistance.

Tom made an indelible impression on all he met and always had room for one more stray cat. He will be missed but never forgotten.
