Mr. Dean H. Morrell, 93, formerly of Mohawk Street, Fort Plain, NY, died Monday, January 11, 2010 at St. Johnsville Nursing Home.
Born on April 9, 1916 in Canajoharie, NY, he was the son of Frank Morrell and Ethel Kling Morrell. He was a graduate of Canajoharie High School and a lifetime area resident, spending over the last 50 years in Fort Plain.
Mr. Morrell was employed by Beech Nut in Canajoharie.
He honorably served our country in the United States Army during World War II with Company I 184 Infantry in the following campaigns, Alevtian Islands, Eastern Mandates (Marshall Islands) and Southern Philippines.
Mr. Morrell was of Methodist faith.
He was a member of the Beech Nut 25 year club and the Johnstown Senior Citizens. Mr. Morrell enjoyed photography, skiing and golf.
On September 2, 1938 in Cobleskill, NY, he was married to Marian E. Roberts. She preceded him in death on August 8, 2009.
Mr. Morrell is survived by his daughter, Linda L. and Tom Tys of Pattersonville, NY; son, Dean H. Morrell, Jr. of Newport, NY; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
