Mr. John "Jack" McGovern, 80, of Starkville Road, Fort Plain, NY, died at the Palatine Nursing Home on January 7, 2024.

Born on June 22, 1943, he was the son of Beverly "Bud" and Doris Brooker McGovern, who predeceased him.

Jack was of Catholic Faith and enjoyed riding around with his brother Ronnie and spending time with his family. Jack also helped Mike in his welding shop for 25 years.

On September 25, 1971, in Canajoharie, NY, at the bride's parents' home, he married Debra A. Frank. Together, they celebrated 42 years of marriage until her passing on September 25, 2013.

He was predeceased by his brother, Barry McGovern.

Jack is survived by his son Mike McGovern and his wife Melissa; daughter Jeanne McGovern and her husband Jason Osness, brother Ronnie McGovern, sister Barbara McGovern, Terry McGovern, sister Mary Roman, Joanne Jordan; grandson Marshal Osness, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, January 12, 2024, at the chapel of Houghtaling and Hanley Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 11, 2024.

Burial will occur in the spring at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery.
