Obituary of Richard Charles Mussmacher
Mr. Richard C. Mussmacher, 80, of State Route 10, Ephratah, died on December 9, 2023 at St. Mary's Healthcare, Amsterdam, NY following a brief illness.
He was born in Copiague, NY on December 5, 1943, the son of Charles and Catherine Schrouder Mussmacher. He graduated from Owen D. Young in VanHornsville, NY.
He lived his entire life in the local area, and in 1967 he started with Niagara Mohawk, and worked there retiring as a traveling operator.
During the Vietnam war he served as a green beret in the US Army as a paratrooper.
He was predeceased by his parents; his son Scott Mussmacher, and nephew Michael Mussmacher.
Survivors include his daughter Kelly Mussmacher, son Eric and his wife Jennifer Mussmacher, and daughter Heather and her husband John Leville; brothers Frederick and his wife Kimberlee Mussmacher, and Charles "Chuck" and his wife Connie Mussmacher, grandchildren, Zachary, Colin, Mayson, Vance; special great grandson Brantley; significant other Brigitte Wagner; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the care of Houghtaling and Hanley Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
Burial will take place at a later date at the Ephratah Cemetery.
