Please share a memory of Marilyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mrs. Marilyn Fowler, 87, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2023 at Sebastian River Medical Center in her hometown of Sebastian, Florida. Marilyn spent her final days on Earth surrounded by her devoted husband, Cal, her family and her beloved caretaker Jeanine Fennell.
Marilyn was born in Utica, New York on December 10, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Charles Raymond Brown and Beatrice Martin.
On September 19, 1953, Marilyn was united in marriage to her husband, Ocia (Cal) Fowler in Schenectady, New York. Together, over the 70 blessed and beautiful years they spent married, Cal and Marilyn raised a family built on faith and love in Canajoharie, New York; the place they loved and called home for many years, before retiring and spending their golden years in Sebastian, Florida.
At the core of Marilyn’s existence was her devotion to her family. Her entire family was loved fiercely by her and she truly embodied the term “matriarch.” Marilyn made her life’s most important work that of being a prominent home maker and protecting and caring for her entire family. She could best be described as being the General of her family’s army and with that, she leaves behind a legacy that will live on for decades and generations to come.
Marilyn is survived by her husband and their six children; Kevin, Victoria Jenkins and her husband John, Jane, Joseph and his wife Audrey, Mark and his wife Michelle and Charles (Chuck) and his wife Susan. Survivors also include her army of beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, all of whom she was treasured and loved deeply by, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by five grandchildren; Kevin (Kevi) Fowler II, Vanessa Fowler, Marilyn Brown, Charles Baker Jr. and Tyson Fowler and her son in law John Stratton Sr. and her daughter in law, Karen Hughes Fowler.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, October 28th at 10am followed by a funeral service at 11:00am at the Canajoharie Reformed Church, 19 Front Street, Canajoharie, New York.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marilyn’s memory to the Fowler Family Scholarship Fund, 31 Highland Place, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
