Ronald J. Pettit Jr., age 59, of Pickle Hill Rd Fort Plain New York, passed away a warrior peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, surrounded by family after a long battle of 7 years battling adenocarcinoma.
Ron was born on August 29th, 1964, in Gloversville, NY, he was the son of Ronald J. Pettit Sr. And Lois Steenburgh Pettit.
Ron has been a resident of Pickle Hill Rd since 1971. Ron was known as a fun-loving guy with a great work ethic. He began his career at his family farm before leaving to work for Beech-Nut Nutrition of Canajoharie, NY for 16 years. Ron then went on to work for the Fort Plain Highschool as a custodian and a bus driver and retired in July 2020 after 20 years. Ron also worked part-time nights for UPS, also retiring in December 2020.
When Ron was not working, he was a member and served as a Deacon of Faith Bible Church of Sprakers NY. He also loved tinkering, woodworking and fixing things at church. He loved hunting and fishing with family and friends whenever he got a chance. He enjoyed cooking and making others laugh with his great sense of humor.
On July 5, 1986, at First Baptist Church of Johnstown NY, Ronald married the love of his life Erin Lair. They went on to have three sons, Alexander, Nicholas, and Justin.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife, Erin Pettit: sons, Alexander, Nicholas, and Justin Pettit; Daughter in law Elizabeth Pettit; Grandson Theodore Pettit, Siblings Kathleen Kilmartin, Mark Pettit, Shonny Capodilupo, Martin Pettit, and Amber Pettit-Hilyard; as well as several nieces and nephews that he loved to spend time with.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Noon located at Faith Bible Church, 106 Crosby Road, Sprakers, NY 12166. The Family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, from 10:00 to Noon at the Church. The burial will take place privately at Evergreen Cemetery in Fonda, NY.
