Obituary of Bruce M. Ferguson

Mr. Bruce M. Ferguson, 88, of State Highway 162, Sprakers, NY died on August 17, 2023 at the Wilkinson Center, Amsterdam, NY, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 16, 1935, in Amsterdam, NY the son of Robert Carlos and Maude Lillian Simpson Ferguson, both who predeceased him.
In 1952 he graduated from Canajoharie High School. Most of Bruce's life he was employed as a professional truck driver. Working for Greene Trucking, St. Lawrence FreightWays, and Chemical Leamon, of Howes Caves.
He was a lifelong area resident, serving on the Charleston Town Board.
In his spare time he enjoyed going to car shows and engine shows.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Carolyn Elmore and his son John Ferguson.
On July 31, 1970 he married Diane Zemken, and together they celebrated 53 years of marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Ferguson; children Mary Lynn McLasky of Broadalbin, NY , Michelle Ann Ferguson of Richmondville, NY, Robert Douglas and his wife Kayla Ferguson of Fonda, NY, and Amy Lee and her husband Robert Munson; sister Margaret Bennelli of Charleston; grandchildren, Sarah Lynn McLasky, Brandon Ahrens, Mackenize Ferguson, Ethan Desrochers, Emelia Desrochers, Charlie Elizabeth Ferguson, Grant Daniel Ferguson; great grandchildren Reese and Finnley ; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 12:00 until 2:00PM on Friday 25th, 2023 at Houghtaling and Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317, with a funeral service following at 2:00PM.
Burial will take place privately at Christian Church Cemetery, Charleston 4 Corners, NY.
