Owen Christman, 95, passed away Tuesday August 1, 2023, with family at his side.

He was born May 25, 1928, the son of Morris and Cora Christman, both who predeceased him.

On August 15, 1948, Owen married his one true love, Beverly Carpenter, sharing 72 years of love and devotion until her passing in January 2020.

He worked for the NYS Thurway Authority for 30 years, retiring in 1985.

In the late 1950’s, he and his Beverly opened a motorcycle shop in the cellar of their home. They shared this business, Christman’s Cycle Sales, for over 60 years.

He and Bev spent 20 years in Sarasota Florida for part of the winter. Always enjoying their time there with friends from home and new friends they met while there.

He was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fort Plain, and The Fort Plain Masonic Lodge, #433.

He was predeceased by his wife Beverly, son Wayne, grandson, Jeremy; his two brothers; one sister; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Barry and Debbie; sister-in-law, Simone Oakley; nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday August 3, 2023, at Houghtaling and Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. A Funeral will be held on Friday August 4th, at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will take place following at Fort Plain Cemetery.
