Obituary of Richard J. Collins

Mr. Richard "Dickie" Collins, 79, of Staley Road, Palatine Bridge, New York, passed away on June 15th, 2023, at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by his family. 

Dickie was born on July 15, 1943, in Cooperstown, New York, the son of John Collins and Elinor Collins, both who predeceased him. 

He was a graduate of Canajoharie High School, Class of 1961

Dickie enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling while he was younger, as well as cars, and car racing, he also always looked forward to riding his motorcycle. When he got older, he found enjoyment in watching the birds in the morning with his wife.

His career as a machinist and tool and die maker started at Beech-Nut, he then went on to work at Life Savers Corp, and ended his career at Ward Products in Amsterdam, NY.

He was of Catholic faith.

On March 17, 1985, he married Nora Post, who survives.

He was predeceased by his son Richard P. Collins in 2020, and his grandson Dustin K. Watson in 2009.

Survivors include his wife Nora P. Collins, daughter Polly Collins-Logan, and granddaughter Shyanna Logan.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday June 21, 2023, from 4:00-6:00PM, with a funeral service following at 6:00PM at the Houghtaling and Smith Funeral home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
