Mr. Joseph Ballas, II, 65 of Indian Trail Road, Fort Plain, NY died at home on April 11, 2023, surrounded by his loving family following a battle with cancer.

He was born in Jersey City, NJ on May 26, 1957, the son of Joseph Balles, I, and Norma Kull Balles.

Joe was a graduate of Passcak Hills Highschool, in Montvale, NJ. After high school he attended Rockland Co. Community College for business.

He was the owner and operator of J.B. Office Matters, in Fort Plain NY.  He had been living in Fort Plain for the past 36 years, prior to that he lived in Guttenburg, NJ. 

While serving his country he was in the US Marine Corp, serving proudly with the USMC2.

Joe was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church of Cherry Valley. He was a member and cofounder of the AMVETS post 2000,  he served as past treasurer, AMVETS riders,was zone 4 director of amvets dept of NY,  where he had served as president, he had also received the honor of being a Honor Scout in the Boy Scouts of America, many people will remember him for all the help he gave to multiple veterans organizations, holding numerous fundraisers and benefits for homeless vets, sent numerous packages at Christmastime to servicemen in active duty, run for the fallen, including particularly the Toys for Tots drive, and many other charities throughout his time at the AMVETS Post 2000.  Still doing all this he was able to find time for  his farm, where  he enjoyed taking care of his many animals. 

He was predeceased in death by his parents, and his brother Robert Balles.

Survivors include the mother of his children; Donna Ballas; children, Stanley and Karlie Ballas, Alexanderia Ballas, (Bryan), Nicollette Ballas (Cody), Joseph Ballas (Rebecca); brother Nils Balles; grandchildren, Stanley, Celia, Sydney, Sophia, Joseph IV, and Lauren; girlfriend Kelley Munson; several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Services will be private and to the convenience of the family. 

The burial will take place at Fort Plain cemetery.
