Mrs. Marlene K. Felter, 71, of Montgomery Street, Canajoharie, New York, died, late Tuesday night, March 23, 2010 at St. Johnsville Nursing Home following a long illness.
Born on November 1, 1938 in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of Harold C. Keller and Elizabeth Voght Keller. Mrs. Felter was a lifelong area resident. She was a graduate of Canajoharie Central School, class of 1956 and a graduate of Mildred Elley Secretarial School.
Mrs. Felter was a secretary for Canajoharie Central Schools from 1958 until her retirement in 1974.
She was an active member of St. John's & St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Canajoharie and was a member of the Church Choir. Mrs. Felter was an organist for the Church, Choir Director of the Adult and Children's Choir, Church Council Member, and youth leader of the "Luther League".
Mrs. Felter was an accomplished pianist and longtime instructor for many people in the local area. She was also a member of the Valley Choralaires and the Colonial Club.
On October 10, 1959 at the former St. John's Lutheran Church Marlene was married to Eugene R. Felter. In addition to her husband, Eugene R. Felter of Canajoharie, NY, she is survived by her daughter, Kristen B.F. and husband, Neil Schmidt of Nashua, NH; sons, Timothy L. and wife, Marianne Felter of Andover, MA, Gregory R. Felter of Amsterdam, NY; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Emily of Andover, MA, Alex and Nicholas of Mayfield, NY and Marguerite of Nashua, NH.
