Obituary of Lewis W. Reddy, Jr.

Mr. Lewis W. Reddy, Jr., 97 formerly of Orchard Street, Fort Plain, NY died on February 16, 2023 at Ellis hospital. He was born in St. Johnsville, NY on August 30, 1925, the son of Lewis W. Reddy, Sr. and Pearl Swartz Reddy.       

Mr. Reddy was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School. After high school he enlisted into the US Navy with the rank of Radarman 3rd,  from 1943 proudly serving his country in both the Atlantic theater and Pacific Theater. 

After his service in the Navy, he  was employed as a welder for 40 years at Cherry Burrows in Little Falls.

Mr. Reddy was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope, Catholic Church, Fort Plain,  a past member of the Fort Plain VFW Memorial Squad, Past Treasurer of the Fort Plain American Legion, and a member of the Fort Plain VFW, Earl Stock Memorial Post #3275.

On August 4,1946 at St. James Roman Catholic Church in Fort Plain, Ny he married Shirley Cranker. She predeceased him in death on September 19, 2001.

Survivors include his daughter Wendy L Wyman; 3 sons John (Maureen) Reddy, Timothy Reddy, Steven (Kate) Reddy; 7 grandchildren, several great grand, and great great grandchildren; and  his brother in law Earl "Butch" Cranker.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday February 20th, 2022 at 11:00am at Our Lady of Hope, Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gray-Houghtaling and Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339.
