Mr. William Fiacchi, 83, of Cliff Street, Canajoharie, New York, died, Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Born on October 9, 1926 in Canajoharie, NY, he was the son of Joseph Fiacchi and Margaret Pellegrini Fiacchi. He attended Canajoharie Central School and was a lifetime area resident.
Most recently Mr. Fiacchi was a boiler engineer for Beech-Nut in Canajoharie. Prior to working for Beech-Nut he was Superintendent of the Incinerator Plant for the Village of Canajoharie.
Mr. Fiacchi served in the U.S. Navy from April 27, 1944 until July 1, 1946, obtaining the rank of Seaman First Class. While in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Fiacchi graduated from the Stationary Steam Engineer Program.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.
Mr. Fiacchi was a member of the Smith-Schultz American Legion Post #222 for over 16 years. He loved to spend time with his family and friends. Mr. Fiacchi also enjoyed Barbecues with the family, camping and fishing. When he was younger he was a beautiful painter and loved woodworking.
On July 29, 1952 in the former St. Peter's & Paul's Catholic Church, he was married to Norma D. Earing.
Mr. Fiacchi is survived by his wife, Norma Fiacchi of Canajoharie, NY; daughters, Christine Schwartz (Alan Jones), Victoria Kraft of Lawrenceville, GA; sons, James Fiacchi and Lynda of Allegan, MI, Mark Fiacchi and Theresa of Canajoharie, NY; sisters, Rose Morgan of Fort Plain, NY, Angie and George Williams of Palatine Bridge, NY; brothers, Joseph and Betty Fiacchi of Fort Plain, NY, Norman and Jackie Fiacchi of Tacoma, WA; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is predeceased by his sister, Pauline Gray.
Burial will take place in St. Peter's & Paul's cemetery at a later date.
