Obituary of Janet Snyder

Mrs. Janet E. Snyder, 70, of Wheeler Street, Canajoharie, NY died on November 29th, 2022, at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, NY following a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Cooperstown, NY on November 3, 1952, the daughter of Orville "Bud" Countryman and Natalie Wikoff Countryman, both who predeceased her.
Janet was a graduate of Canajoharie High School Class of 1971, and attended SUNY Plattsburgh.
She retired on her 65th birthday from Amsterdam Print and Litho, after 25 years, where she worked as an embroidery operator. Before that she worked at the St. Thomas Leather.
Janet had lived her whole life in the local area. She was an avid race fan, and she enjoyed many nights at Fonda Speedway. When she wasn’t sitting on her bench in front of her house she could be found usually working on one of her plastic canvas projects.
On September 10, 1983, at the Canajoharie United Methodist Church she married Richard Gary Snyder, who predeceased her on February 20, 2009.
Survivors include her daughter Jaynie and her husband Kyle Corbett; sisters Alice Countryman (Doug), Carol and her husband Dwayne Heroth; her pride and joy granddaughter, Allie Grace Corbett; Nephew Kreig Heroth (Rachel); great nephew Harlan Heroth; and several cousins.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday December 10th, 2022, from 10:00-12:00 at the Houghtaling and Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. A funeral will take place immediately after at 12:00 Noon, with burial following at Canajoharie Falls Cemetery.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to St. Mary’s Healthcare ICU, and Dr Posada for the care they showed Janet while she was in their care.
