Obituary of Elizabeth Moyer

Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty" Moyer, 88, formerly of Dygert Road, Canajoharie, New York, died, Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Palatine Nursing Home. Born on November 8, 1921 in the Town of Canajoharie, NY, she was the daughter of C. Roy McEwan and Emma Ackerman McEwan. She was a lifetime area resident. Mrs. Moyer was employed at various local mills then became a nurse's aide in her later years for the Montgomery County Nursing Service in Amsterdam, NY. Mrs. Moyer was an active lifetime member of the Marshville Evangelical Church. She belonged to the windy ridge craft group. On November 10, 1938 at the Parsonage of the Marshville Evangelical Church on Maple Avenue in Canajoharie, she was married to Russell H. Moyer. He preceded her in death on May 17, 2008. She was also predeceased by a brother, W. Ralph McEwan. Mrs. Moyer is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rosada M. and Derwin Utter of Cherry Valley, NY; son and daughter-in-law, Robert H. and Alyce Moyer of Canajoharie, NY; sisters, Janice Johnson of Sun City West, AZ, Alma Owens of Hopewell, VA; seven grandchildren, Barry Haig, Brian Haig, Holly Thomas, James Moyer, Kenneth Moyer, Tracy Moyer and Shannon Wilder; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
